NPE2018 PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY FRIDAY NPE 2018 : THE PLASTICS SHOW SHOW DAILY The world's largest fully integrated producer of nylon 6,6 resin ascendmaterials.com Booth S14001 South Hall New Technology Focuses on Higher Quality in Plasঞcs Recycling Erema North America Inc. | Booth W1249 Erema North America (Booth W1249) is showcasing an Intarema T 1108 live at the booth, processing clean LDPE producঞon waste direct and without pre-shredding to make high-quality regrind. The company is also providing details on the reported world's first R-PET inline preform system at its booth. SIPA, a manufacturer of PET packag- ing soluঞons from Italy (U.S. office SIPA North America, Atlanta), joined forces with Erema to develop a flexible, direct processing soluঞon to make food-contact-compliant preforms from recycled PET flakes—in a con- ঞnuous process. Erema says that for PET processors, the system has both economic and ecological benefits: energy savings, lower logisঞcs and processing costs, and higher profitability. The inline preform system is in full line with the global trend of processing post-consumer PET flakes direct to make sheet, strapping or end products. Also Erema's new business unit, Powerfil, which is responsible for the company's filtra- ঞon products, is here at NPE for the first ঞme. The filter systems are now also avail- able as individual components for extrusion lines from other suppliers. erema.net | (978) 356-3771 Negri Bossi Launches New Generaঞon of All-Electric Machines Sytrama USA | Booth W363 Negri Bossi North America | Booth W363 Conঞnuing the trend toward revving up all-electric ma- chines for high-speed packag- ing and medical markets, Negri Bossi (U.S. office in New Cas- tle, Delaware) is introducing its fourth-generaঞon all-elec- tric machines, the Nova eT series. The showpiece is a 180-metric-ton model molding four food-container lids with in-mold labeling (IML) in 3 sec, using a side-entry robot from sister company Sytra- ma (also with offices in New Castle). The Nova eT series ranges from 50 to 350 m.t. It has a new-generaঞon Tactum touch- screen control that accepts mulঞ-touch ges- tures such as swipe and scroll. Its Smart Flex 2 toggle clamp has a new geometry designed specifically for electric actuaঞon. Mulঞcolor injecঞon opঞons are available with addiঞonal, all-electric injecঞon units. Negri Bossi claims energy savings of up to 80% compared with convenঞonal hydraulic drives. sytrama.com | (302) 328-8020 negribossi.com | (302) 328-8020 Pre-hardened Steels Eliminate the Need for Heat Treat Internaঞonal Mold Steel Inc. | Booth S33060 Internaঞonal Mold Steel highlights mold base steels and cavity and core steels at NPE2018. At the show, it has Toolox 33 and Superplast Stainless mold base steels. It also has cavity and core steels like Nak 55, Nak 80, PX5 Modified P20, S-Star 420 Modified, DH2F Modified H-13 and Toolox 44. The company says its prehardened steels save ঞme by eliminaঞng the need for heat treat, which eliminates the need for second- ary machining. With mold shop deliveries geমng shorter and shorter, Internaঞonal Mold Steel's customers need to squeeze as much ঞme out of their mold builds as possi- ble. The company says these products are very free machining. In some cases, its cus- tomers are seeing double the cu•er life of their tooling. These qualiঞes increase savings for the moldmaker and the molder. imsteel.com | (859) 342-6000 Krauss-Maffei's Integrated Molding Cells Focus on Five Technologies Krauss-Maffei Corp. (KraussMaffei Group) | Booth W403 Krauss-Maffei features presses for the large packaging market, IML, lightweight thermo- plasঞc composites, LSR, rapid heat/cool molding and Plasঞcs 4.0. • High-speed medium-size machines: A new "speed" opঞon for medium-sized GX two-platen presses suit them to large pack- aging and logisঞcs components. The GX-900 at NPE2018 has clamping speeds as low as 0.45 sec., with injecঞon-speed opঞons rang- ing up to 700 mm/sec. • Liquid silicone rubber: Krauss-Maffei is molding LSR medical dosing caps, or "duck- bills," on its PX 51-55 SilcoSet all-electric machine. The modular press has hydraulic nozzle-contact force, special screw seals, and spring-loaded check valve. • Composites overmolding: Krauss- Maffei is adding a wrinkle to its FiberForm thermoplasঞc composite technology by overmolding composite sheets with both a rigid thermoplasঞc for funcঞonal purposes and so[-touch TPE for consumer comfort, producing an auto armrest on a GWX 450 press with a swivel plate. • Rapid heat/cool molding: KM's booth features Roctool technology for heat/cool molding with inducঞve mold-heat balancing. A 16-cavity tool produces plaques with 16 different surface qualiঞes—glossy, ma•e, ho- logram, etc.—in a single shot. • Industry 4.0: KM is featuring its APC+ adapঞve process-control so[ware that is in- tended to ensure consistant parts producঞon by adjusঞng to changes in material viscosity and ambient condiঞons. The "plus" enhance- ment to the APC algorithm is the addiঞon of a library of materials data—parঞcularly melt density and melt compressibility under pres- sure, which are criঞcal to consistent cavity filling and packing. KM is also highlighঞng its DataXplorer so[ware that provides a nearly microscopic look at the process, enabling users to respond to unclear fault pa•erns. DataXplorer can display up to 500 high-resoluঞon signal paths. kraussmaffeigroup.us | (859) 283-0200 76
