NPE2018 PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY FRIDAY N PE 2 018 M AY 11TH Achieve progress in materials science through constant innovation WE PROVIDE: Service 350+ direct clients; 50+ endpoint clients Equipment 5 production bases; 780+ testing equipment; 200+ production lines R&D National Technology Center; 458 patents Quality Traceable product lifecycle; 475 certifications Composites For Additive Manufacturing Biocomposites Petroleum-Based Composites S12133 Boy Machines Shows Its Full Range in Orlando Boy Machines Inc. | Booth W2503 Boy Machines is showing six machines, from its smallest to its largest, plus its new robot lines. At the small end is the new Boy XXS micromolder (introduced at K 2016), with 7-ton clamp and shot capacity up to 9.3 g. This all-electric, tabletop unit has Boy's standard canঞlevered, two-platen clamp (though with just two diagonally arranged ঞebars) and Procan Alpha controller. The system permits offcenter gaঞng, adjust- able verঞcally by up to 25 mm. Integral sprue and parts pick- ers are mounted under the safety gate. The largest press from Boy Machines, Boy 100 E (110 tons) will produce LSR protecঞve sleeves for cable ends in a 128-cavity mold from Elmet in 14 sec. Use of retrofiable secondary injecঞon units to convert standard machines to mulঞcomponent molding is shown by Boy Machines, producing a wine-bole spout on a Boy 60 E by overmolding NAS styrene-acrylic with TPE using a Boy 2C S auxiliary injecঞon unit. This machine demonstrates Boy's energy-saving EconPlast insulated-barrel technology. Other presses operaঞng in the Boy booth are a Boy 25 E producing a clear magnifying lens, a Boy 35 E molding medical parts, and a Boy 35 EVV verঞcal/verঞcal press for insert molding. Boy is also presenঞng its new-generaঞon Procan Alpha 4 controller (first introduced at K 2016). It incorporates an OPC- UA server, which is becoming the new standard for imple- menঞng Industry 4.0 network connecঞvity. Procan Alpha 4 offers significantly improved MES (manufacturing execuঞon system) funcঞon, doubling of the temperature-control accura- cy, halving of the tolerances, and beer posiঞon accuracy due to improved analog registraঞon, which reportedly increases accuracy of the posiঞon sensors by a factor of 10. What's more, the processor's reacঞon ঞme has been sped up by a factor of eight or more—125 ¼sec vs. 1000 ¼sec (1 millisec) for the previous version. Cycle-ঞme consistency is also said to be improved, with deviaঞon tolerance of less than 10 millisec. Also improved is the hydraulic-pressure-depen- dent switchover to holding pressure with stroke monitoring. Temperature-control accuracy reportedly has been doubled— halving the previous tolerances. Boy Machines is showing for the first ঞme in the U.S. its LR 5 top-entry servo robot, said to be a good value for use with Boy 35 E to 100 E presses, integrated into the Procan Alpha machine control. Control integraঞon is said to make it easy to move the robot program from one press or robot to another. The robot's modular design allows for a choice of x-y-z axis lengths, and it comes with a rotaঞng and swiveling gripper hand and safety enclosure. Payload capacity is 5 kg (11 lb). Boy is also showing its three-axis pneumaঞc picker, which is programmable through the Procan Alpha control. | (610) 363-9121 New Granulator Product Line from Conair Conair | Booth S14045, W1845 Conair (Booths S14045 and W1845) launches a new porolio of granulators with standard features that reportedly include improved sound insulaঞon, hardened and water-cooled cut- ঞng chambers on most models, as well as bigger screens for increased throughput compared to the company's previous offerings. Seven different models are on display at the show, in configuraঞons for injecঞon molding, blow molding and both pipe/profile and film/sheet extrusion. The new product line includes 14 different models with rotor diameters of 6, 8, 12, 17 and 23 inches (140, 200, 300, 420 and 570 mm), and max- imum throughputs from 80 lb/hr (36 kg/hr) to 3800 lb/hr (1724 kg/hr). Tangenঞal-feed cuমng chambers are standard on smaller grinders, while large units come in a super-tangen- ঞal configuraঞon to facilitate feeding of large and bulky scrap. Three-blade open rotors are also standard, and other rotor designs are available. Some unique features include hardening cuমng chambers made with abrasion-resistant steel, hardened to 550 HV which reduce wear and increase the cuমng chamber's life span, water cooling on machines with 12-inch (300-mm) di- ameter rotors and larger and screen areas equal to 50% of the rotor diameter, or 180 degrees, which get more granulate through the cuমng chamber more quickly for higher throughput without added horse- power. Larger granula- tors and specialty units will be added to the line in the future, the company states. (724) 584-5500 55
