Line Redesign Launches New Small- and Mid-Size Desiccant Dryers Conair | Booth S14045, W1845 A new generaঞon of desiccant dryers fea- tures an air-to-air a[ercooling opঞon, which reduces the temperature of return air from the drying hopper, improving the mois- ture-absorpঞon efficiency of the desiccant. Conair's Carousel PlusX series portable dry- ers and dX series mobile drying/conveying systems make their official debut at NPE2018. The new dryers are the result of a com- plete redesign of Conair's Carousel Plus des- iccant dryer architecture. Specifically the company revamped its portable dryers and mobile drying/conveying systems—the for- mer W series and MDCW series—sized from 15 to 400 lb/hr throughput. Uঞlizing customer feedback, the new X and dX series dryers combine a new fea- ture-packed control with high-reliability com- ponents that maximize performance, upঞme and energy efficiency. These are housed in a space-efficient chassis, which in addiঞon to a compact footprint, offers direct access to key components like filters. The air-to-air a[ercooling on the X and dX series dryers is required to reduce the tem- perature of the return air from the drying hopper, improving the moisture-absorpঞon efficiency of the desiccant. Now, processors can specify dryers equipped with either an opঞonal air-to-water a[ercooler or the new air-to-air a[ercooler. The air-to-air unit can sustain drying efficiency while handling re- turn-air temperatures of up to 375° F (190.5° C) and dew points of -40°F (-40°C). At the same ঞme, it saves water, maximizes dryer portability, and makes installaঞon and setup faster and easier. New Controls At the heart of the new dryers is the new DC-C programmable electronic controller, developed specifically for drying applicaঞons. Using so[ware developed by Conair, the control maximizes flexibility in adapঞng to current and future applicaঞon needs. It is available on both the X and dX series dryers in two configuraঞons: a 4-inch touchscreen user interface on the DC-C Plus and a 7-inch screen on the DC-C Premium. Both share a common HMI layout, making them easy for processors to learn, and both offer dew-point monitoring and control, en- ergy-use reporঞng, heater on-ঞme trending and predicঞve maintenance as standard. Pre- mium units add addiঞonal energy-saving fea- tures, including temperature setback, which automaঞcally adjusts drying air input tem- peratures to avoid overheaঞng, and an op- ঞonal drying monitor, which uঞlizes RTD sensors in the hopper to confirm that proper drying condiঞons are maintained. Premium units also offer remote access and control capabiliঞes and enhanced monitoring and alarm funcঞons. Both control configuraঞons offer built-in loader opঞons as well. The Plus configuraঞon includes opঞons for one loader, the Premium for two, typically with the first loader opঞon used for the processing machine and the sec- ond serving the dryer hopper. dX series mo- bile drying/conveying systems include a stainless-steel hopper, conveying blower, dust collector and direct-feed vacuum receiv- er assembled on a wheeled cart. Loaders can be supplied with a sensor to confirm resin fill levels, a raঞo valve for loading two materi- als—typically a regrind and a virgin—into the dryer, and a choice of long- or short-distance conveying blowers. conairgroup.com | (724) 584-5500 Two New Products Expand Single-Dose Line of Purging Agents iD Addiঞves Inc. | Booth S28084 iD Addiঞves, Inc. is showcasing two new single-dose purge compounds that come in individual packets—expanding its original QuickShots liquid-in-pouch product line. These compounds allow operators to purge their equipment by simply dropping the pack- ets into the machine's feed throat/hopper. The product reportedly works with all resin types on all plasঞcs machinery processes. New QuickShots HD (heavy duty) has glass prills mixed in for extra cleaning strength, and SP (pellets in a pouch) includes an extra small 1 / 2 oz. version, ideal for lab lines and small runs. iD Addiঞves is selling the QuickShots purge compounds in 1-ounce packets (boxes of 50) and 3-ounce packets (boxes of 24). Free samples are available by contacঞng the company. idaddiঞves.com | (708) 588-0081 52
