THURSDAY NPE 2018 : THE PLASTICS SHOW SHOW DAILY Zone in on Progressive's Components for Molds, Then Rock Out By Cynthia Kustush MoldMaking Technology Those in the market for mold component innovaঞons will want to stop by Progressive Components (Booth W4871) this week where products are "zoned" according to focus to provide visitors with a "deep dive" into how standard components, innovaঞve mechanisms and monitoring technologies can advance customers' goals. "We're more than just components to mold builders, as we also help OEM's, Tier 1s and Tier 2s to implement major iniঞaঞves with their tooling specifica- ঞons and producঞon opঞmizaঞon," says Glenn Starkey, president of Progressive Com- ponents. Featured new product introducঞons in- clude alternaঞve approaches to cascades and baffles for mold cooling. The new compo- nents route water up li[ers, around li[er heads and through inserts where space is o[en very limited, Starkey says. Progressive has expanded the capabiliঞes of its CVe Mon- itoring plaorm by adding modules for main- tenance of molds, machines and auxiliaries, and has also added a new, standalone as- set-tracking system that, in addiঞon to molds, can monitor molding machines, assembly and cycle-based equipment. Plus, for CVe Live users, it is integrated within the CVe Live plaorm." Stainless steel supports for medical molds, precision stripper bolts and standard items for very large automoঞve molds are among the many mold compo- nents that round out the new offerings. The company has two locaঞons at NPE2018, with a smaller satellite booth (S33004) in the South Hall, Level 1. But it is at the main booth in the West Hall where VIP-tagged customers, a[er zoning in on products of interest to them, can then rock out with a cold beverage in hand and hear live entertainment by the band Rushour, a Rush tribute band, when the show closes at 5 p.m. today. "By day, we want to idenঞfy with the aendee some component widget, some mold monitoring capability, something great or small that they can take back to their team and it helps in some way. Then by night, we take the opportunity to have them back at our booth and raise a glass together and listen to live 'progressive' rock," Starkey explains. "The net accomplishment is that not only is there some product that will help, but the aendee gets to know what we're made of." Stop by Booth W4871 today at 5 p.m. to enjoy some live "progressive" rock. equipment and more. "Someঞmes large glob- al companies can misplace their tools within their supply chain," Starkey says. "In addiঞon to tracking assets, it also has a maintenance module for prevenঞve maintenance and work-order generaঞon for both hourly-based 84 LEADING SHEET EXTRUSION TECHNOLOGY G-SERIES ® QUAD PLUS ™ CO-EX SHEET SYSTEMS MULTI-PATENTED TECHNOLOGY Processing Technologies International, LLC | 2655 White Oak Circle Aurora, IL 60502 | Tel: 630.585.5800 | Fax: 630.585.5855 World Class Sheet Extrusion Systems 5 Zone Temp Station Dual Payoff Lamination Cell Film Access Hatchways Model GCH841830 Horizontal Five Chrome Roll Stand M a y 7 - 1 1 , 2 0 1 8 O r l a n d o , F L U S A B o o t h W 6 7 4 4 Novel Thermoform Tooling Helps PP Coffee Pods Float Working closely with parent company Kiefel, Bosch Sprang (Booth W2727) has developed new patent-pending thermoforming tooling for producing PP coffee pods with a material density of lower than 1 kg/m3, allowing them to be recycled in water-separaঞon systems. The new tooling system has been staঞsঞcally analyzed as well as tested and can be adapted to most ঞlঞng-bed-style thermoforming machines, the companies say. Consequently, it does not require any special machine adapঞons. The proprietary technology is based on several unique and innovaঞve mulঞ-funcঞonal elements in the tool that reportedly enable and control specific mechanical properঞes of the coffee cups. Kiefel is displaying the technology at its booth on its KTR 6.1 Speed pressure-forming ma- chine. The firm says the KTR 6.1 Speed sets new standards in power, forming area and speed. The machine is suited to a wide range of materials, among them rPET, PP, PS, PLA, PE and others, including foamed materials. New thermoforming tooling from Bosch Sprang produces PP coffee pods at extremely low material densiঞes, allowing them to be recyclable in water- separaঞon systems because they'll float to the surface. Grab a Drink with Plasঞcs Technology By Dave Necessary Gardner Business Media As the show draws to a close, here's a final reminder of what Plascs Technology (PT) is featuring at this year's premier plasঞcs pro- cessing event. If you haven't already come by, Plascs Technology extends a special invitaঞon to dai- ly happy hours. A[er a long day of walking the show, please come to Booth W-2513, West Hall, for networking, refreshments and fun. For the third consecuঞve NPE, Plascs Technology is highlighঞng the PT Soluঞons Network, which celebrates the people, the products and the publicaঞons that solve plas- ঞcs problems. The PT Soluঞons Network is anchored by the PT Problem Solvers contest, which asks that you share photos and videos about who you are, what you do and what problems you are trying to solve. Plascs Technology uses the term "network" because its parent company, Gardner Business Media, produces several media brands that also deliver relevant infor- maঞon to plasঞcs industry professionals— brands like MoldMaking Technology, Compos- itesWorld and Addive Manufacturing. In addiঞon, Gardner has two Spanish-lan- guage brands—Plascs Technology México and Modern Machine Shop México—that are expand- ing the company's network geographically and linguisঞcally. All Gardner's media brands are on display in Booth W-2513, West Hall. And, MoldMaking Technology (S-33000) and Addive Manufacturing (S-22147) have their own booths in the South Hall.
