(KraussMaffei Group) | Booth W403 KraussMaffei is presenঞng live demonstraঞons of the latest iteraঞon of its FiberForm technology for lightweight composites. FiberForm combines thermoforming of thermoplasঞc organosheets reinforced with conঞnuous fibers and injecঞon overmolding into a single process. This process results in lightweight, high-strength reinforced-plasঞc components that are parঞcularly aracঞve for automoঞve vehicles. This week, a KM GXW 450-2000/1400 mulঞ-component injecঞon molding machine with swivel-plate technology is molding a center armrest part in a mold from Proper Tooling. The new wrinkle is overmolding the organosheet composite not only with rigid thermoplasঞc but also with so[-touch TPE. The company is also demonstraঞng this producঞon cell at Proper's headquarters in Warren, Michigan, a[er NPE2018 to ensure engineers local to the Detroit area can get the chance to see this technology firsthand. kraussmaffeigroup.us | (859) 283-0200 Blender Line Adds Touchscreen Controller Plastrac Inc. | Booth W129 Blending system manufacturer Plastrac is introducing a user-friendly touch-screen in- terface it says will make the blending process easy to understand and manage. The new controller is a major feature at Plastrac's booth (Booth W129) on Level 2 of the West Hall at NPE2018. Set-up is reportedly intuiঞve and fast with a full virtual keyboard for recipe entry. A USB port allows those recipes to be transfered to and from a thumb drive, and so[ware up- dates can also be loaded via thumb drive. The controller features a non-volaঞle shot count- er and wired Ethernet. Set-up parameters can be viewed during operaঞon, and many of those can also be changed while the unit is in use. The parameters are stored automaঞcally. The controller detects and alarms for a short-circuit on external cables, and it will stop feeding in the event of a motor control short. It will also provide a specific alarm for low or missing motor voltage. Operators can go back and review ঞme-stamped alarm/ event history. Plastrac offers a pulse tach version of the new touch-screen controller for quicker re- sponse to changes and for beer filtering. It can also provide an addiঞonal output for a power baffle or breakup device. plastrac.com | (610) 356-3000 60
