WEDNESDAY NPE 2018 : THE PLASTICS SHOW SHOW DAILY 82 We like being a part of an industry that touches people's lives in a real way. Plasঞc enables sustainable living, convenience and safety. It is a product you can describe easily, and it is a tangible product that we all interact with every day. Joel Rudolph Vice President, Strategy and Business Development Farnell Packaging Limited For me it's a family business. My father has been doing this for his enঞre life. So, I've been around it my enঞre life, and I work with my brother and my brother in-law, my father and my sisters. Annina Donaldson (& Family) President, Florida Operaons Maxi-Blast Inc. My favorite thing about working in the plasঞcs industry is that you get to work with a product that can be infinitely recycled and reused instead of causing trash. Kyle Georges Sales Manager AMUT S.P.A. HPG is the new group formed by Hartmut Pallmann. With this new group, we reaffirm our commitment to be a global company and build strong alliances with strategic partners to serve a global market. Our theme for NPE this year is Pathway to Powder, where we will display our newest technologies to reach clean, 425 microns powder (tire rubber) and under 200 microns on other polymers, using ambient air only in just a few steps. Booth W963 FliP & Sip: Bursঞng With Pride Nowhere is it more excing to be a part of the Plascs Industry than when meeng current and future leaders. So we caught up with some aendees at Monday night's Future Leaders in Plascs Recepon and asked— What's your favorite thing about being in the Plascs Industry? Interviews by Karen Cornelissen MoldMaking Technology Get into the Zone: Re|focus By Hannah Mason Plascs Technology This year, NPE2018 introduces the Re|focus Zone, a special area on the show floor dedicated to sustainable soluঞons. "The Re|focus Zone is new to NPE this year, but recycling and sustainabil- ity are not new to the plasঞcs industry," says Glenn Anderson, NPE2018 Chairman and v.p., Strategic Account Development for Milacron. "All aspects of recycling will be on display by ex- hibitors from 13 countries." This 10,600 net [ 2 space showcases the latest trends in green manufacturing, including ad- diঞves that increase purity in "upcycling" materials, innovaঞons in bioplasঞcs, increased use of chemical recycling, and emerging trends in solvent extracঞon. The Re|focus Zone stems from the sustainability-focused Zero Waste Zone that was introduced at NPE2015, and it is held in conjuncঞon with the annual Re|focus Sustainability and Re- cycling Summit, one of nine specialized educaঞon programs at NPE2018. The idea, according to Ashley Hood-Morley, director of sus- tainability for the Plasঞcs Industry Associaঞon, is that aendees can go to the educaঞonal ses- sions to learn about new sustainable technology, and then visit the Re|focus Zone to talk to experts on whatever topic they are interested in. Something new to look for in the Re|focus Zone is the Sustainability Lounge, a space to learn about PLASTICS and how companies can get involved in the sustainable iniঞaঞves they offer. There will also be meeঞng spaces, demonstraঞons, and a cash bar in this area for aendees to take advantage of. "With all of those opঞons for learning, networking, or just finding ঞme to relax off the show floor, there's a reason for everyone who aends to NPE to visit the Re|focus Zone at some point throughout the week—or maybe even a few ঞmes—and leave feeling refreshed and in- spired," says Hood-Morley. "PLASTICS hopes this zone will reinforce the sustainability benefits and opportuniঞes presented by plasঞc materials, generaঞng new ideas for how our industry can bring sustainability to the enঞre plasঞcs supply chain." The Re|focus Zone at NPE2018 is featuring the latest technologies and trends in recycling and sustainability, including green manufacturing, innovaঞons in bioplasঞcs, chemical recycling, and solvent extracঞon.
