WEDNESDAY NPE 2018 : THE PLASTICS SHOW SHOW DAILY NPE2018 PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY One-of-a-kind industrial manipulators and lift assist devices. See the difference a Dalmec machine makes at BOOTH S10030. New Robots: Economical and Top-of-the-Line Wimann Baenfeld Inc. | Booth W3742 Wimann Baenfeld is showing new devel- opments at both ends of its robots line: At the high end are the new X Series robots, which are essenঞally the company's previous top-of-the-line pro series with the addiঞon of the new R9 control introduced last fall. The R9 retains programming look and feel of the preceding R8 model, but the pendant has a larger screen, is lighter and easier to handle, accepts gesture commands like a tablet or smartphone, and also has membrane keys for essenঞal inputs. Meanwhile, the Primus 14 joins Wimann's new economical series of servo robots for relaঞvely simple pick-and-place applicaঞons. It's aimed at injecঞon presses from 50 to 150 tons. Its horizontal axis ranges from 900 to 2,000 mm. The verঞcal axis has a stroke of up to 1,000 mm; the demolding axis stroke is 440 mm. The com- pact cable management system allows parts to be deposited within the injecঞon ma- Model WX163 Primus 14 robot chine's frame. This robot comes with the R8 control. The Primus 14 has a payload capaci- ty of 2 kg (4.4 lb); it joins the Primus 16 with 5-kg (11-lb) payload. | (860) 496-9603 Integrated Metal/Plasঞc Processing for Teletronics ENGEL | Booth W3303 Thermal switch housings, used to monitor electric motors in cars or home appliances, are usually produced in a complex, mulঞ- stage process. As a rule, the metal compo- nents are punched and overmolded at enঞrely different locaঞons. This requires considerable logisঞcs overhead and ঞes up a lot of material and work in process, since two independent processes must be started up. Engel is combining these operaঞons in a single integrated producঞon flow. Engel developed the system together with MMS Modular Molding Systems of Austria, a specialist in turnkey producঞon lines for metal/plasঞc hybrids. The process starts with feeding thin brass sheet from a coil through a punch press, where the brass also has a thread servo-electrically tapped. The brass carrier plates, sঞll on a conঞnuous reel, are fed into a verঞcal, 38.5-ton Engel insert 60V/35 press for overmolding with glass-filled nylon. Camera inspecঞon and high-voltage tesঞng integrated into the tool ensure 100% quality control. Eight finished parts leave the cell every 20 sec. | (717) 764-6818 50
