FROM THE EXTRUDER TO THE DIE - PERFORMANCE GUARANTEED! • www.psi-polymersystems.com • sales@psi-polymersystems.com Regeneraঞon Line for Recycling Gamma GM180 extrusion line. The GM105 Compac regeneraঞon line from Italian supplier Gamma Meccanica S.p.A. (GM) is said to be flexible and suitable for recycling PP and PE in the form of pre-sized films, coils or loose products. Like all GM Compac lines, the GM105 Compac's extruder block and feeding system are assembled to provide greater stability and offer a more integrated and compact layout to the line. The electrical panel is mounted on the base of the line, helping pre- vent errors during installaঞon since it is not necessary to disconnect cables during trans- port and re-wire them during assembly. An- other electrical panel is separated from the machine and houses the largest inverters. The line is controlled by an electronic touch- screen panel placed on a support so that it can be posiঞoned by the operator. The line's components include a feeding system with cu•er-compactor, a single- screw extruder and double-degassing vents, a filter and a water-ring pelleঞzer TDA 4.0. Producঞon capacity range is 900-1500 lb/hr. Thanks to its Ecotronic so[ware for power control, the power consumpঞon of the line is low with potenঞal energy savings up to 40%. In addiঞon, the Ecotronic plat- form allows control of the temperature without injecঞng water into the material. An important feature of the line is the presence of the feeding screw, which guarantees a constant flow of material to the extruder. As on all GM lines, devices are installed for the remote connecঞon of the machines. Through this connecঞon, it is possible to monitor the line while it is running and, if necessary, to modify and opঞmize the so[- ware (both PLC and HMI). Graham Shows Advances in Controls, Extrusion, Blow Molding Graham Engineering Corp. is displaying ex- trusions systems for sheet, medical tubing, wire and cable, and other applicaঞons, each equipped with a proprietary Navigator con- trol system for live demonstraঞon of its accu- racy and ease of use. At Booth W2743, it is also showing an accumulator head blow molding machine. The extrusion displays include: • A Welex brand Evoluঞon sheet extru- sion system—a complete producঞon line for use in sheeঞng, winding, and in-line thermo- forming applicaঞons equipped with XSL Navigator control. While the equipment on display is for thin-gauge PP, the Evoluঞon system can be customized for widths from 36 to 90 in. (90 to 230 cm), gauges from 0.008 to 0.125 in. (0.2 to 3.2 mm), and throughputs up to 10,000 lb/hr (4535 kg/ hr.). Monolayer or co-extrusion systems are available, with up to nine extruders. In addi- ঞon to a customized roll stand, the Evoluঞon system can also be equipped with screen changers, melt pumps, mixers, feedblocks, and dies. Addiঞonal features of the line on display include a proprietary roll-skewing mechanism for thin-gauge applicaঞons while maintaining quick roll change and electric gap adjustment under full hydraulic load without interrupঞng producঞon. • A 2.5 in. (63.5 mm) American Kuhne Ultra extruder equipped with XC100 Naviga- tor control and a 3.5 in. (99 mm) extruder with XC200 Navigator control. Building on the proven performance of the Ultra family of extruders, Graham has made improve- ments designed to make maintenance simple and accessible. Serviceability features in- clude newly designed barrel covers that al- low for quick and easy access to barrel heat- ers and thermocouples and an automoঞve style wiring harness with quick-change plugs for rouঞng wiring and thermocouples be- tween the electrical cabinet to the barrel heater/cooling zones. • An American Kuhne tri-layer medical tubing line, consisঞng of modular micro extruders and XC300 Navigator with inte- grated TwinCAT Scope View high-speed data-acquisiঞon system. • An American Kuhne AKcent co-extrud- er. This versaঞle customized system is avail- able in fixed horizontal versions or units that can be fully ঞlted from horizontal to verঞcal. An EZ-Tilt feature makes angular adjust- ments quick and easy. The control panel is located on an arm that is mounted to a ground post allowing the panel to swivel around the post for flexible posiঞoning. In blow molding, the Mini Hercules accu- mulator-head blow molder is a small-shot system (2.5, 5 or 8 lb) with a small footprint (15 × 11 [ × 15 [ high). It was previewed at NPE2015, and the first several units are now in the field. Graham's XSL Navigator touch- screen control has been adapted for this machine, like others in the company's line. The Mini Hercules comes with single or dual heads and bo•om or side discharge. Graham's spiral-flow diverter head is said to allow for color and material changes in 1 hr. The diverter head also provides conঞnuous internal cleaning during producঞon, so there is no need to disassemble the head for cleaning. Graham Engineering also is showing a modular clamp staঞon for its Revoluঞon MVP wheel-type blow molder. Each clamp staঞon is independent of the others, with all forces self-contained within the clamp. A quick-change system allows individual clamps to be removed for offline mainte- nance. Modular design also lets users vary the number of clamp staঞons from 12 to 24 on the same plaorm. Graham Engineering Markeঞng Associate Corey Gast is pictured with the company's Welex Evoluঞon line. 86 NPE.ORG A PRODUCT OF PLASTICS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
