LSR Headlamp Lens Uses Auto Cavity Balancing Engel | Booth W3303 Engel says this is the first ঞme it has molded automoঞve LED headlight lenses at a trade show. These products (with light-guide technology) are said to be parঞcularly complex and require a high degree of precision and stability in molding. They run on a 120-ton, ঞebarless, all-electric e-victory 310/120 machine with a metering/pumping system and two-cavity mold, both from ACH soluঞon in Austria. The enঞre cell, including LSR dosing, is handled by the Engel CC300 controller. The mold uses a new ServoShot cold-runner valve-gate system from ACH, with valves that are pneumaঞcally actuated but the pin strokes are set electrically. All the valve gates open to- gether; varying the pins' open posiঞons adjusts the flow through each valve gate. Parts are checked via integrated camera inspecঞon and weighed individually. The ServoShot so[ware then adjusts the pin openings to balance the fill and equalize the weights in the caviঞes. Engel machines are running LSR in three other booths: A hydraulic ঞebarless victory 200/120 is molding coasters in four caviঞes at Wacker Silicones; another hydraulic, ঞebarless victory 200/55 is running at moldmaker Burteck; and an all-electric e-mac 170/55 is molding eyeglass lenses at Shin-Etsu Silicones. | (717) 764-6818 Abrasion-Resistant & Highly Transparent TPEs Kraiburg TPE | Booth S31181 Kraiburg TPE is featuring its custom-engi- neered TPE soluঞons, including new grades and target applicaঞons within the consumer, industrial, automoঞve and medical markets. There is also a focus on local support to its customers in the form of a disঞncঞve service bundle; a spectrum that includes project- tailored advice on which engineered plasঞc compounds to use, including the color and specific applicaঞon and processing require- ments. What's more, the company is high- lighঞng its global producঞon capacity expansions, including the newly-built Buford, Georgia plant, where capacity went from about 13 million lb/yr to 22 million lb/yr. Product innovaঞons include the newly launched VS/AD/HM series, said to offer silky, saঞn-smooth surfaces that feature high-scratch/abrasion-resistance, excellent durability and resistance against chemicals such as sebum oil, creams and common household detergents. The series is designed for consumer electronics applicaঞons. The VS/AD/HM series has been specially devel- oped for applicaঞons that require a silky and velvety surface, along with excellent adhe- sion to polar thermoplasঞc compounds such as PC, ABS, PC/ABS, PU, ASA, SAN, nylons 6 and 12. Available in natural color and black, the compounds also reportedly have impres- sive processing properঞes. Applicaঞons in- clude controllers for game consoles, remote controls, headphones, toys, protecঞve covers for mobile phones, tablets and cosmeঞcs packaging. Also showcased is Kraiburg's FC/ht series of highly transparent materials for applica- ঞons such as food packaging seals, tooth- brush handles, detergent pods and toys. This series of TPEs is characterized by its excellent adhesion to PP as well as its high-flow pro- cessing behavior. It boasts a smooth, non- sঞcky feel and due to its high transparency, is said to be ideal for applicaঞons requiring cus- tom pigmentaঞon or vibrant colors, a forte of Kraiburg TPE. | (678) 584-5020 "Look for opportunies to showcase your talents and which afford the means to benefit others." — IRA BOOTS, Berry Plasঞcs/Milacron, Plasঞcs Hall of Fame Class of 2018 52
