MONDAY NPE 2018 : THE PLASTICS SHOW SHOW DAILY NPE2018 PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY Display Features Integraঞon of Machining and Automaঞon Makino | Booth S34188 Makino highlights its D200Z-graphite 5XC verঞcal machining center with a 30,000-rpm spindle in booth S34188 at NPE2018. The graphite mill is integrated within an automat- ed cell using a Makino EDNC6 sinker EDM machine and an EROWA ERC80 robot. The robot shules electrodes and work pieces between the two machines, using EROWA's JMS Pro automaঞon cell control so[ware. This cell showcases the latest advancements in automaঞon and producঞvity. | (513) 573-7200 Drying 4.0 with Dri-Air Dri-Air Industries, Inc. | Booth W971 Dri-Air Industries introduces its new Dri-Air Dryer 4.0 line of dryers (Booth W971), which the company says is designed to funcঞon autonomously using sensors that monitor the changing material throughput to inform changes in operaঞon. Dri-Air says this dryer complies with Euromap's evolving communi- caঞon standard and will be able to "talk" with other equipment in the cell once that proto- col is fully developed. Each dryer can report to a common staঞon normally located in the maintenance department to monitor its sta- tus and transmit any alarms requiring assis- tance. As dryers are added, they automaঞcal- ly are sensed by the central staঞon and add- ed to the system. Dri-Air's booth features small volume, portable dryers, as well as large-volume equipment. On the small throughput side, portable dryers combining the dryer and hopper on a common caster-mounted stand and ranging in throughput from 2 to 350 lb/ hr. Saving floor space, the company is also featuring hopper mount dryers that mount to a machine's feed throat. Capaciঞes range from 30 to 150 lb/hr. Dri-Air notes that these models are ideal for long runs where cleaning is not a factor. Dri-Air is featuring its dual-hopper dryers. The PDII model incorporates two hoppers with the dryer for quick material changes. Various sizes of these models are on display, and Dri-Air says all are energy efficient, re- portedly using 50% less energy compared to wheel-style designs. To prevent moisture pickup while blending dried resins in standard gravimetric blenders, Dri-Air has combinaঞon units that incorpo- rate volumetric feeders into the PDII dual hopper dryer. This system blends materials only as needed, conveying the mixture to a receiver on the molding machine's feed throat. With this design, Dri-Air says there is no moisture pickup, no layering of materials and no mixture le[ a[er compleঞng the job. A variety of hopper banks are also on dis- play, showing the different set ups that are available on a portable stand. These are ideal for pre-drying resins for JIT processing with manual material handling or they can include one of Dri-Air's central conveying systems for automaঞc operaঞon. Hopper sizes can range from 5 to 300 lb/hr capacity when mounted on a common frame. Larger hop- pers are mounted on individual stands that bolt together and include the manifolds, heaters and loading system piping. Dri-Air notes that it also provides central drying and conveying systems from small to large amounts of machines and throughputs. These systems can be supplied from the silos, rail car unloading, conveying to day bins and central drying staঞon, and distributed to individual molding machines. Throughputs can range up to 3,000 lb/hr for PET applica- ঞons. Using a similar design as its other dryers, these models are said to be more efficient than other designs on the market, with longevity boosted thanks to the fact there are no moving parts. | (860) 627-5110 New Distribuঞon Group Highlights Several New Addiঞves from Three Companies SACO AEI Polymers | Booth S11119 Private holding company AESSE Investments Ltd. announced the formaঞon of AESSE Sales & Distribuঞon (AESSE S&D)—a new sales, distribuঞon and corporate development arm for the business. Mike McCormack has been named business unit manager for the new venture. His experi- ence includes ঞme with Dow Chemical, Teknor Apex, M.A. Hanna and PolyOne. Materials AESSE S&D distrib- utes coupling agents and impact modifiers manufactured by SACO AEI Polymers—an AESSE Investments business—as well as flame retardants, masterbatches, compaঞbilizers, surface modifi- ers and process aids made by other suppliers. AESSE S&D maintains mulঞ- ple warehouses, and it has ac- cess to injecঞon molding presses up to 3500 tons through its sis- ter division, SA Engineering, which has partnered with Engel to display its equipment in a SA Engineering facility in Detroit. Apart from SACO AEI Polymers, AESSE S&D distributes products from Fine-Blend, Javachem, Suli Co. Ltd. and Sundow Polymers Co. Ltd. | (920) 803-0778 PROVEN. AFFORDABLE. EFFICIENT.
