The patent-pending, pre-hardened mold steel Corebloc was engi- neered for injecঞon molding tools and for the core plate of injecঞon molds up to 40" (1,015 mm) in size. Finkl says that excellent ability to harden characterizes this steel in comparison to standard materials like 4140 and 1.2312. Corebloc's machinability and resistance to wear are outstanding. Corebloc is suitable for laser-hardening, chrome-plaঞng and nitriding. Finkl says that users save from expenses on core-side molds and tools. Finkl also presents the plasঞc mold steel MD-Xtra SH (Super Hard). Microalloying addiঞons ensure higher hardness levels than material that is typically available. With a hardness ranging to 43 HRC, the wear resistance is significantly increased. Polishability is guaranteed up to 1,200 grit. MD-Xtra SH is ideal for manufacturing sophis- ঞcated automoঞve components with ex- tremely smooth surfaces. Its remelted coun- terpart, MLQ-Xtra, combines these benefits with a guaranteed SPI A1 finish. Schmolz + Bickenbach highlights the moo of bringing out the shine in plasঞc mold manufacturing in its NPE2018 display of the extremely corrosion-resistant, hard- ened high-grade steel Formadur PH X Super- clean from DEW. With its excellent pol- ishability, Schmolz + Bickenbach says that Formadur PH X Superclean is an ideal solu- ঞon for manufacturing reflector and lens molds. Formadur 2083 Superclean from DEW also is resistant to corrosion. Resis- tance to wear makes this material ideal for PVC extrusion tools and smaller cross sec- ঞon injecঞon molds. Schmolz + Bickenbach also features Corroplast FM from DEW at NPE2018. Corroplast FM is a material engi- neered for sophisঞcated plasঞc mold bases. This free-machining, pre-hardened stainless steel has outstanding machining characteris- ঞcs and dimensional stability. (ARI) takes its first step into IML with a side-entry sys- tem from Well-Lih of China, running a four-cavity PP yogurt-cup mold. According to ARI, its IML systems perform in the same league as industry-leading compeঞtors, but at 20-30 percent lower price. ARI is offering both top-entry and side-entry IML systems suitable for overall cycle ঞmes down to 3 sec and with mold-open ঞmes as short as 1.8 sec. ARI can also handle larger products like 5-gal buckets, kiy-lier pails or candy bowls.
